Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Burton upon Trent to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team on a full-time basis from September.

The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant\n
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
\n
\n - Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the school
\n - Work with children with needs including:\n
\n - Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
\n - Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD & SLD)
\n - Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
\n - Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
\n - Physical and Complex Needs
\n
\n - Provide both 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning needs
\n - Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving their personalised learning targets
\n - Promote independence, confidence, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour
\n - Support the implementation of EHCP outcomes and individual education plans
\n - Adapt learning activities and resources to meet pupils' individual needs
\n - Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, SENCOs, and wider multidisciplinary teams
\n - Help create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements\n
The successful candidate will:
\n
\n - Hold a Level 1 Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 is desirable)
\n - Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Worker, Care Worker, or in a similar role supporting children or young people with additional needs
\n - Have experience supporting pupils with SEND within either education, care, or residential settings
\n - Demonstrate patience, resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential
\n - Be confident managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies
\n - Hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
\n - Be available to work full-time from September
